Spiral Dynamics
An interesting model that explains human development, whether at the societal or at the individual level, in terms of core values.

Stephen Gilligan
A student to Milton Erickson himself and now a leading teacher of Ericksonian hypnosis, Dr. Stephen Gilligan has developed his own therapeutic approach, called “Self–Relations” (for more information, see The Courage to Love). According to Gilligan, symptoms, which form part of the “wound”, are a sign of the person’s spirit trying to wake up. As such, they are the access doors to a person’s “gift”. The role of the therapist is therefore to assist in the awakening process.

The beauty and strength of Gilligan’s work lie in his ability to integrate therapy with aesthetics and philosophy as well as in his capacity to perceive the whole range of human experience in generative terms, as part of a “hero’s journey”.
